The Allen-Bradley 1336F-CWF100-AN-EN is a dependable Variable Frequency Drive (VFD). It is also called Variable Speed Drive (VSD) since it is used for motors. Essentially, it is an adjustable frequency AC drive that is controlled by a microprocessor and is able to take input voltage of 500 to 600 volts alternate current (VAC), 3 phase or 775 voltage direct current (VDC). Its electrical circuitry and hardware then converts the electrical power input provided to an output of 12.0 amperes and 7.5 kilowatts or 10 horsepower of output. This allows for the machine to respond to variable torque requirements while maintaining a constant speed such as large blower fans, for example. The output is Sine Coded Pulse Width Modulating (PWM) and the frequency ranges from 0 to 400 Hz. Alternatively, the drive can be interfaced with an integrated SCANport communication port. The prior has limitations of local configurations and controls while the later allows for network access. The SCANport communication is ideally suited for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) to enable dynamically control the frequency of the VFD.

The 1336F-CWF100-AN-EN Variable Frequency Drive can also be connected to Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) or Human Machine Interface (HMI) units. The connection needs specific communication adapters 1336-GM1 or 1336 GM6. The 1336F-CWF100-AN-EN VFD offers integral motor control choices of Volts or Hertz or Sensorless Vector Control. The VFD achieves smooth operation and precise torque control using proprietary algorithms and hardware technology such as Insulated Gate Bipolar Transition (IGBT) power. The unit comes equipped with a supertwist liquid crystal display that aides in machine programming and basic supervision of the drive.
