Allen-Bradley's 1398-DDM-009 is a universal digital drive module. It is a drive from the ULTRA 100 series. Modules in this series digitally regulate an application's current, position, and velocity. This helps to prevent element drift and ensures function consistency. This drive contains digital I/O channels that allow the user to configure the drive for specific applications. An external power supply of 12 to 24 volts direct current (DC) provides I/O power. This unit does not require an external transformer on the power line. A wide range of drives, motors, and motor characteristics are supported by this family of digital drives. Motors from the F, H, N, W, and Y families are all supported. The operational temperature range for this unit is 0 to 55 degrees Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit to 131 degrees Fahrenheit). The ideal non-condensing relative humidity range is 5 percent to 95 percent. An enclosure that entirely covers all electronics should be utilized to safeguard the drive unit in a hazardous environment. The drive will be protected from splashing water and dust if it is enclosed in an IP54-rated enclosure. An IP65 enclosure provides further protection by shielding the unit from water jets and keeping it dust-free. From the front panel, you can access all of the drive's indicators and ports. Before installing the drive, keep it in its container. If you are not intending to use the equipment for an extended length of time, keep it in a clean, dry environment with an environmental temperature range that it supports.
