A DeviceNet communication adapter from Allen-Bradley, the 20-COMM-D is a communication option for a PowerFlex 7-Class drive that may be installed. Additional Allen-Bradley devices that support a DPITM (Drive Peripheral Interface) adapter could also be utilized with this as well. The adapter can also be installed in a DPI external comms kit, where it must be used with the kit's I/O board. The adapter weighs 86 grams and measures 19 millimeters in height, 86 millimeters in length, and 78.5 millimeters in width.

The 20-COMM-D from Allen-Bradley is an adaptor intended for communication. DeviceNet communication is enabled via this adapter, which is compatible with various drives and modules. Operators should only place the unit in an adapter spot when there is no power. Because it is an electrostatically sensitive gadget, installation must be done carefully with electrostatic safety considerations in mind. To begin, avoid handling electronic equipment, wear electrostatic wristbands, and ensure that the workstation and work surfaces are properly grounded. The 20-COMM-D has three LED signals that inform users of the status of the drive communications, the adapter itself, and the network. The adapter also includes a 20-pin DSI connection and a switch for the rate of data.

The usage of electricity of the 20-COMM-D is 150 milliamperes at 5 VDC from the host, the usage of network is 60 milliamperes at 24 VDC from the network. It operates at 10 to 50 degrees Celsius and stores at -40 to 85 degrees Celsius, with a non-condensing humidity of 5 to 95% that is relative. Some prominent features of this adapter include multiple data exchange methods, such as polled, cyclic, and change of state (COS), for data transmission between both the network and the adapter. The adapter also supports Master-Slave and Peer-to-Peer management structure, which can be established so that the adapter and attached PowerFlex drive transmit information to and from either a scanner or some other PowerFlex drive also on the network. The 20-COMM-D features user-defined failure actions to evaluate how the adapter and connected PowerFlex drive react. This communication adapter has dimensions of 19 millimeters by 86 millimeters by 78.5 millimeters, measured in height by length by width, and has a unit weight of 86 grams.
