The Allen-Bradley PanelView 2711P-T6M20D8 is a sophisticated operator panel that can be used as an input device as well as a display device. The panel belongs to Rockwell Automation’s PanelView Plus 6 terminal series and uses a touch screen as its primary input mechanism. The device is equipped with a grayscale screen with a display resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. The device can be integrated with Allen-Bradley’s Logix Controllers series to provide the user with an enhanced experience. The panel can be housed in a NEMA rated enclosure that is designed to accommodate well-defined clearances. These clearances are maintained to prevent damage to the panel due to potential surface contact with its surrounding components. The clearances also provide ventilation and air supply to the device and ensure ease of maintenance.

Standard user interface features such as the control panel and command shell are also provided with the operating system package to improve the flexibility of the device. The operator terminal is equipped with a random access memory capacity of 256 megabytes and a non-volatile user memory of 512 megabytes. The user is allowed to store files and data using 73 megabytes of memory capacity provided by the system. It is also possible to transfer files into an external storage device using the USB ports provided with the device.

The Allen-Bradley 2711P-T6M20D8 is an operator terminal that comes equipped with a touch screen interface that, when measured diagonally, is 5.7 inches in size. Additionally, this display is monochrome and is a TFT (thin film transistor) LCD (liquid crystal display). The communication ports embedded within this device are 1 (one) Ethernet port, 1 (one) RS-232 port, and 2 (two) USB ports. The USB ports embedded within this device are one (1) Host port and one (1) Device port. The RS-232 interface is used for point-to-point or peer-to-peer communication (proprietary DF1 protocol) and it is up to PLC programmer to provide the right program in the unit memory. There is also off line library and debug functionality which can be used for programming and testing purposes. When operating the terminal, it is important to keep the surrounding temperature within a range of thirty-two (32) to one hundred and thirty-one (131) degrees Fahrenheit. When this device is not being operated, however, the surrounding temperature should be kept within a range of negative forty (-40) to one hundred and eighty-five (185) degrees Fahrenheit. This device was designed to be operated in an industrial environment that has a Pollution Degree 2 rating. Additionally, this product is recommended to be used at an altitude no greater than two thousand (2000) meters, or the equivalent of six thousand five hundred and sixty-one (6561) feet. 

When mounting this device, be sure there is clearance on all sides to allow for adequate ventilation and connections. The minimum clearance for the top of the product is fifty-one (51) millimeters (2 inches). The bottom of the device should have a minimum clearance of 102 millimeters (4 inches). The sides of the device should have a minimum clearance of twenty-five (25) millimeters (1 inch).
