The 1747-L542 is an SLC 500 SLC 5/04 modular processing unit manufactured by Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation. It can handle 32 keywords, specifically 4 keywords for storage of data and 28 keywords for storage of programs and data. The 1747-L542 module has a backplane current of 1 ampere at 5 volts DC and a current of 175 milliamps at 24 volts DC. The module comes with RS-232 port and a DH+ port for communication purposes. It also has LED statuses that indicate CPU fault, low battery, run, RS-232, DH+, and forced I/O. This processor has an acceleration of 2.5G at 57 – 2000 hertz, with a displacement of 0.015 inches, peak-to-peak, at 5 – 57 hertz, and an operating shock of 30G. Also, it comes with an absolute maximum of 4096 discrete outputs and 4096 separate inputs, with maximum local analog I/O of 480. Allen Bradley 1747-L542 processor has a maximum of 3 local input and output chassis, with a total of 30 slots in the local I/O chassis. Its input and output scan time of 0.255 milliseconds, with a typical program scan time of 0.9 milliseconds per keyword. It also features a bit execution time of 0.37 milliseconds, with a program scan hold-up time of 20 milliseconds – 3 seconds after a power loss. However, the power scan hold-up time depends on the power supply’s loading. The module uses Flash EPROM for memory back-up, while the 32 kilobytes RAM of this processor is battery-backed.
