The temperature measuring analog module 1756-IT6I2 has an input range of -12 to 78 millivolts and it can work with grounded or ungrounded thermocouples. It also provides a cold junction compensation to improve accuracy to within 0.3 degrees Celsius and improve module accuracy. The gain drift with temperature for the module is 25 ppm and module error over temperature range is 0.15%. The 1756-IT6I2 module can multicast status and fault data to the user and controller connected to the data channel. The fault data is formatted so that the user can select the level of granularity desired for examining fault conditions. There are three levels of tags to indicate the level of detail of a specific cause of fault. The module fault word indicates fault summary reporting, the channel fault word informs under range and overrange, and communication fault reporting and the channel status words provide individual channel under range and overrange fault reporting for process alarm trips, rate alarm trips, and calibration fault trips. The cold junction under range tag is set in case the cold junction sensor is below 0 degrees Celsius and cold junction overrange is set when that junction is above 86 degrees Celsius. Thermocouple types, B, R, S, E, J, K, N, T, L, and D are compatible with the module. The module serial number, revision information, catalog number, vendor identification and diagnostic counters can also be accessed from the interface.
