The 1756-L83E is a ControlLogix 5580 controller manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation as part of the ControlLogix 5580 product line. This module is based on EtherNet/IP communication, and it comes with three main controller tasks, including 1000 programs per task, 32 tasks, and event tasks, which are all triggered with no limit. It also features a user memory of 10 megabytes for data and logic, as well as optional non-volatile storage memory. The device is shipped along with 2 gigabyte SD card and the 1784 SD2 that is preinstalled. Also, the 1756-L83E controller features a non-detachable energy storage module which is already integrated in the controller. Other notable features of this controller include two communication ports, embedded EtherNet port, and Type-B USB port. It is advisable to use an SD card by Rockwell Automation because these cards are pre-tested and verified to be suitable for the controller and can also tolerate extreme temperatures that the controllers get exposed to. If you choose to use other SD cards, leave the card installed because diagnostic data would be stored in it if fault occurs. Rockwell Automation uses such data for reference while troubleshooting.
The Allen-Bradley 1756-L83E PanelView Controller supports several communication options. The EtherNet/IP-related uses of the 1756-L83E controller are the connection of the controller with input and output modules, directly to the EtherNet/IP network without the need for a bridge module.
The Allen Bradley 1756-L83E is a ControlLogix Processor module with EtherNet/IP connection capabilities. With infinite event triggers. it has 32 tasks and 1000 programmed tasks. The digital I/O limit is 128,000, and the analog I/O limit is 4000. Users can choose the type of Ethernet Nodes. it has a data transfer speed of 12 Mbps and a user memory of 10 Mb with a steady isolation voltage of 50V. It is critical to incorporate a link to the controller with input/output modules in the Ethernet communication module. Without the use of a bridge module, these should be linked directly to an EtherNet/IP network. Connecting the controller to I/O modules, directly connecting it to an EtherNet/IP network without the need for a bridge module, bridge messages between modules and EtherNet/IP in the ControlLogix chassis, support 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, and even 1 Gbps link speeds, and communicating with other Ethernet/IP devices (messages and produced/consumed tags) are all EtherNet/IP-related uses of this controller. When utilized with the Studio 5000 Logix Designer version 30 or higher and an Ethernet performance of 10, 100, or 1000, it can transport up to 250 Ethernet I/P nodes. It is highly recommended that the module be used with an Allen Bradley SD Card since these cards have been inspected and certified to work with the 1756-L83E and can resist the harsh environmental parameters. The 1756-L83E comes with a 2 GB Secure Digital SD Card and optional nonvolatile storage memory. A type B USB port is also incorporated, as well as non-removable energy storage.
