The 1756-OB16I is a ControlLogix 24 Volt DC isolated output module with 16 individually isolated outputs and a pilot duty rating of 2 Amperes. The output module provides on/off detection and actuation. The module uses a producer/consumer network model and therefore can release information to the user while simultaneously performing its system functions. The module is installed in a ControlLogix chassis and is connected to the system wiring with removable terminal block or a Bulletin 1492 wiring interface module (IFM). The module can be removed and inserted back in while without powering off the chassis. The module enables intelligent data exchange between the devices on the network as the communication method does not need to be polled first. The data is time stamped with a 64-bit system clock while transferring between module and its controller. The fault and diagnostic detection by the module helps the user quickly identify and resolve issues. The unit is certified for use in areas that are Class 1 Division 2 hazard level. It has a voltage rating of 12/24 volts direct current sink/source and operating voltage range of 10 to 30 volts direct current. The output delay time is 1 millisecond maximum for off-to-on and up to 2 millisecond for on-to-off. It has a current draw of 350 milliamperes at 5.1 Volts and 2.5 milliamperes at 24 Volts. The total backplane power is 1.8 Watts and power dissipation is up to 3.6 Watts at 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit). The module has a thermal heat dissipation of 12.28 British Thermall Units (BTU) per hour.
