The Allen-Bradley 1756-OF8 is an I/O module. It is a chassis-based controller module. This controller can be used to render motion control, digital, analog, diagnostic digital, and specialty I/O. All the channels can be programmed for either +/-10 volts direct current (DC) or 0 to 20 milliamperes of output current signal. The resolution rating for this controller is 15 bits.

The 1756-OF8 is an analog I/O module. This controller module offers great efficiency and flexibility. This controller can be used with local chasis PLC controllers. The 1756-OF8 can be paired with other controllers from the ControlLogix line of products from Allen-Bradley. By deploying certain networks, this controller can be connected with other OLC controllers. This controller module comes with several advanced features starting with the insertion under power (RIUP), as well as the removal of the RIUP. Thanks to this feature, users can both remove and insert the module from the terminal block while the power is still on. This feature helps with reducing downtime significantly. This controller is specially designed for intelligent data transfer. It can be used for both consumer and producer communication. This controller can work as an intermediary between other system devices and other industrial I/O modules. When this controller is installed, industrial devices can generate data without the need for polling. 

The input rating for this module is 15-bit. On the other hand, the output rating for this module is 15-15 bits. There is an advanced timestamp on this module. The timestamp is triggered when data is sampled. Users can also deploy this module to estimate the channel intervals and the field-side upgrades. Other advanced features on this controller are real-time over-range and under-range alarm detection. The alarm will go off as soon as it detects a voltage supply that exceeds the programmed voltage limit. Users do not need to purchase any extra parts for the safety alarm system.
