The Allen Bradley 1768-L43S is a compact GuardLogix safety processor unit. The safety processor has a backplane current of 1.4 amperes at 24 volts, an output current of 2.8 amperes at 5.2 volts, a power consumption of 33.6 watts, an isolation voltage of 30 volts (continuous), and a power dissipation of 7.5 watts. It has a storage capacity of 2 MB standard memory and 0.5 MB safety memory. The 1768-L43S processor is designed with 2 I/O banks and can support 2 1769-series I/O modules. The safety processor has screw type electrical connections (using M4 or #8 screws) with a screw torque requirement of 1.16 Nm (10 lb-in). This processor is compatible with controllable systems on Ethernet/IP or ControlNet. Additional benefits of the processor include scalable and flexible performance, security controls and fully integrated motion.
The 1768-L43S safety processor is packaged in an open type enclosure. The operating temperature range for the safety processor is specified as 0 to 60 °C (32 to 140 °F), while the non-operating range is -40 to 85 °C (-40 to 185 °F).
