The 1771-ACN15 is a one-port ControlNet communication interface module that was manufactured by Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation. The module consists of the ControlNet which is the communication architecture that exchanges messages between Allen-Bradley products and other third-party products with certification. Other features of the 1771-ACN15 module include the capability of data transfer with high speed, it provides the ability to generate diagnostic messages, allows the Network Access Port (NAP) to provide local network communication, and allows the ControlNet version which is version 1.5 to be updated. In 1771-ACN15, the module has a non-redundant media interface while in 1771-ACNR15, the module has a redundant media interface.

In terms of hardware, the adapter module has six (6) major kinds of components. The first components are ControlNet status indicators, the second component is the status display, the third component is a pushbutton for the communication reset, the fourth component is the Network Access Port (NAP), the fifth component is the ControlNet connector, to which there is only one (1) on part number 1772-ACN15, and the sixth component lies on top of the module which is the module net switch assemblies. BNC connectors are the main connectors used for cable connection to the module and the connection happens at the front portion of the module. The rated current requirement of this device is one (1.0) ampere (A). In addition to that, the rated voltage requirement for this device is five (5) volts direct current (DC). The power supply of this Allen-Bradley module is provided via the backplane.
