The 1771-IAD is a Series D modular component manufactured by Allen-Bradley for 1771 I/O systems that require a properly installed system chassis. The proper installation of the module will include module protection that will protect the module from electrostatic damage while handling. The module is compatible with all Allen-Bradley chassis except 1771-A1, 1771-A2, and 1771-A4. While installing the module make sure that there is no single card block transfer or other input module placed in the same group while using 2-slot addressing. Whereas, a discrete output module can be used in the same group. This Series D module also includes an adjustable delay time jumper, which applies to all 16 channels and the operators may use the delay time to select between input delays for all the channels. To detect general input readings, there is a delay of 5 milliseconds. Whereas, the delay allowance rises to 20 milliseconds when preventing false inputs in environments with high-noise.
These delays need to be adjusted by the users because the default delay time of the module is 5 milliseconds. For adjusting the time delay, users can locate the jumper selection plug available on the top right of the module. Users can slide the jumper to 20 milliseconds. The 1771-IAD requires a current of 195 milliamperes maximum from the 1771 I/O backplane chassis’ output. The users should prevent overloading by calculating the capacity compatible with all the other I/O modules. To ensure proper phasing and prevent damage to the module, the same power source should be used for powering both the modules. Users can use Allen Bradley 1771-OA modules to drive 120 Volts AC/DC input module with devices like RG 1676-1 electro-cube or a 2500-Ohm resistor installed between the output terminals.
