The Allen-Bradley 1771-IAN is a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) that takes AC input from user devices to the logic form accepted by the controller or processor. The input devices could be based on user interface such as start/stop pushbuttons or machine interface such as limit switches, indicator lights, motor starters, on/off status, and actuators. The input modules are four groups of eight and total thirty two. The voltage range of the PLC is 85 to 135 Volts AC at frequency of 50 to 60 Hertz and nominal input voltage of 120 Volts AC. The nominal input current is 8.2 milliamperes at 115 Volts AC at 60 Hertz and 6.8 milliamperes at 115 Volts AC at 50 Hertz. The isolation voltage is tested to withstand 1000 Volts for 60 seconds.
The power dissipation is 1.0 Watts minimum and 7.0 Watts maximum. Corresponding, heat dissipation is 3.4 British Thermal Units (BTU) per hour minimum and 24.1 British Thermal Units (BTU) per hour maximum. The backplane current is 280 milliamperes at 5 Volts DC maximum. The input signal delay is 10 milliseconds (±7 milliseconds) from off to on and 20.0 milliseconds (±15 milliseconds) from on to off. The 1771-IAN module comes equipped with 32 red LED status indicators on the front panel numbered from 00 to 07 and 10 to 17 in two columns. The input impedance is 0.2 uF in parallel with 220K ohms or 470 ohms in series. The PLC is CSA certified for Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D hazardous areas and UL listed as well as CE marked.
