1771-NR is a high-resolution isolated analog module by Allen Bradley. It is an intelligent block transfer module that is used for programmable controllers, such as PLC-3 and PLC-5, with block transfer capabilities to interface with analog signals. In a single scan, block transfers send input data words from the memory of the module to a specific region in the processor data table. It also transports output data and configuration words from the processor data table to module memory. For high resolution and precision, it employs 16 bits analog-to-digital converters and 14 bits digital-to-analog converters. It just takes up one (1) slot in the I/O chassis and does not require any external power.
It has eight (8) RTD input channels. These channels are electrically isolated from each other, as well as from the backplane. Its RTD (resistance temperature detector) input channels have a selectable input range of 1 to 650 ohms. It offers a maximum resolution of 10 milli-ohms per bit on a 16-bit unipolar, 100 ohms platinum sensor, 120 nickel sensor 0.03 degree Celsius (0.06 degree Fahrenheit), and 10-ohm copper sensor 0.3 degree Celsius (0.5 degree Fahrenheit). It offers a display resolution of 0.01 ohms/0.1 degrees Celsius by default. It can detect open input in a maximum of 5 seconds. These RTD input channels have a typical excitation current of 1 milliampere. It can bear a continuous overvoltage of 140 volts AC RMS. It has a maximum of ±25 milli-ohms/degree Celsius of offset drift, ±50 ppm/degree Celsius of gain drift, and 9 hertz of input bandwidth.
