Product number 1771-ODD is an isolated output module that was designed and manufactured by Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation. It is for installation on an I/O slot in the 1771 chassis, using any available slot, except the left-most slot that is reserved for controller processors or alternatively adapter modules. Its power supply is rated at 120 volts AC, as accepted is within the range of 85 to 138 volts AC. The maximum safe current from the backplane is 420 milliamperes, when operating at voltage of 5 volts DC. The unit has 16 output channels, each of which is fused individually. The device requires a minimum current of 10 milliamperes per output and can support a maximum of 2 amperes per channel, with a maximum of 8 amperes per module. Each output has a voltage drop, which includes 6.5 volts rms at a load current of 65 milliamperes and 1.5 volts rms at 65 milliamperes.
For monitoring the module status, there are 33 LED indicators positioned on the front part. The 16 LED indicators on the left side provide signal for each channel status, the first indicator on the right side provides the ACTIVE status on the module and the remaining 16 indicators on the right side, that are positioned below the ACTIVE one shows the fuse blown. The output module’s isolation voltage conforms with or exceeds the requirements of standards UL 508 and CSA C22.2 Number 142. The device could be used with connection cable that has length that measures no more than 1000 feet, or the equivalent of 304.8 meters.
