The 1785-ENET is an EtherNet Interface Module manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation as part of the PLC-5 series. This EtherNet/IP enabled interface unit is located on one I/O slot of the 1771 input and output chassis. When the module is attached to a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC-5), it enhances EtherNet to connect on the controller. The 1785-ENET module features a backplane rated 1.0 amp at 5 volts DC and has a power dissipation of 5 watts. When the module is used with an enhanced PLC-5 controller, it enhances EtherNet connectivity without having the DH+/RIO ports disabled. This further provides convenient Ethernet connectivity with the ControlNet PLC-5 controller. Besides, it can run the dual Ethernet links using the Ethernet PLC-5 controller. The module has a shipping weight of approximately 1.7 pounds or 0.77 kg and measurements of 10.75 x 1.25 x 5.75 inches.
Allen-Bradley 1785-ENET EtherNet Interface Module offers circuit isolation at 50 volts through basic insulation type tested for one minute at 500 volts AC between communications to systems. It also uses the EtherNet 802.3-compliant (TCP/IP) unshielded or shielded twisted wire pair to connect. The 1785-ENET EtherNet Interface Module comes with two communication ports and supports the EtherNet communication protocol. This module is certified to operate with no derating at a temperature range of 32 – 140 degrees Fahrenheit or 0 – 60 degrees Celsius and a non-condensing relative humidity of 5 – 95 percent. It also can tolerate an operational 2.0 G operational vibration at a frequency of 10 – 500 hertz while maintaining standard definite functionality at 30 G of operating shock.
Part number 1785-ENET is compatible with advanced PLC-5 controllers, PLC-5 controllers with ControlNet communication portal, and PLC-5 controllers with Ethernet communication ports. The installation of this Ethernet interaction module with a PLC-5 Ethernet controller enables the operation of two connectors. The optical Ethernet connector connects directly to the backplane of the 1785-ENET with a 1771 PLC-5 chassis. This module has a rear voltage of 1.0 amperes at 5 volts DC and power dissipation of 5 watts. The 1785-ENET provides an Ethernet connection without disabling DH+/RIO ports and provides a simple Ethernet connection with the ControlNet PLC-5 controller when paired with an advanced PLC-5 controller. It can also manage two Ethernet lines connected to a PLC-5 Ethernet controller. This product weighs approximately 0.95 kilograms, or the equivalent of 2.1 pounds. This module provides a 50 volts loop separation using a standard isolation mode that is tested for 60 seconds at 500 volts AC between system connections and uses an unsecured or securely twisted pair TCP/IP compliant with Ethernet 802.3 connectivity. This device supports Ethernet TCP/IP protocol with an 8-pin RJ45 connector integrated into the front end of the module. This device has been shown to work without derating in temperatures between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius (32 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit) and constant humidity levels between 5% and 95%. When storing this device, the temperature of the surrounding area should range from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. The Allen Bradley 1785-ENET can withstand an operating shock rated up to 30 G at peak acceleration for 11 milliseconds, as well as a non-operating shock rated up to 50 G at peak acceleration for 11 milliseconds.
