This controller interface module with the part number 1785-KE was manufactured by the Allen-Bradley company. This interface module comes with one (1) embedded Data Highway Plus port and one (1) embedded RS-232 port. These ports are primarily used for establishing a connection between the Data Highway network and various devices. In both half-duplex configurations and full-duplex configurations, this Allen-Bradley product has the capabilities to operate and change data. The communication rates supported with the module is fifty-seven thousand six hundred (57,600) bits per second for Data Highway Plus, while with RS-232, the speeds are selectable. This Allen-Bradley product may be mounted via a slot on an Allen-Bradley Bulletin 1771 I/O chassis. The Allen-Bradley 1770-CD cable is used to connect the Allen-Bradley 1785-KE with the DH+ network. This controller interface is inserted into this unit's chassis backplane and takes the current from there.

This Allen-Bradley interface module has power requirements of one-point-two (1.2) amperes at five (5) volts direct current (DC). The operating ambient temperature rating of this unit ranges from zero (0) to sixty (60) degrees Celsius. Additionally, the ambient temperature rating for storing this product ranges from negative forty (-40) to eighty-five (85) degrees Celsius. The humidity range sufficient for this interface module to work properly is five percent (5%) to ninety-five percent (95%) without condensation. This interface module also has numerous communication ports that any user can utilize. The communication ports included with this device are a 3-screw terminal block for Data Highway Plus, a 9-pin male EIA D-shell connector for a 1784-T50 terminal, and a 15-pin female EIA D-shell connector for an asynchronous RS-232-C port.
