The 1785-L40C is a PLC-5/40 Processor and a Programmable Controller that provides connection to programming terminals through DH+ connection, serial channel, and ControlNet connection. The operator can connect programming devices to the ControlNet network through a ControlNet network access cable with a tap on a ControlNet device. This programmable control unit uses channel zero (0) for serial port. It is a 25-Pin D shell that supports standard EIA RS-232C and RS-423. You can use this port with ASCII or DF1 full duplex, half duplex master, and half duplex slave protocol. The port’s default configuration supports processor programming like DF-1 point-to-point with one stop bit, 2400 bps, BCC error check, no polarity, and no handshaking. The channel 0 is optically coupled through provision of high electrical noise immunity. It can be used with RS-422A equipment, so long as termination resistors are not used and distance with transmission rate is decreased to comply with the RS-423 requirements.
Channel 1A has 3 pins available with default DH+. It is configurable for remote I/O scanner, remote I/O adapter, DH+ communication, and unused. The channel 1B also has 3 pins with default remote I/O scanner. It is also configurable remote I/O scanner, remote I/O adapter, DH+ communication, and unused. You can select processor modes with available Key switch. The controller comes with a ControlNet I/O indicator and channel 2 ControlNet status indicators. A ControlNet network access port is also available with an RJ-45 connector. It also has redundant media ports with channel zero (0) for communication status indicator. A force status indicator is also present in the ControlNet PLC module.
