This device may be connected to an RX3i PacSystem PLC universal backplane in order to extend the PLC's functionality. This expansion board can also accommodate an increased number of I/O modules that it could not previously accommodate on its own. The IC694CHS398 serial expansion backplane has a total of five (5) slots. Additionally, this product is used to connect universal backplanes that have a total of twelve (12) or sixteen (16) slots. This GE Fanuc product supports cables that have a maximum length measuring fifty (50) feet, or the equivalent of fifteen (15) meters. This serial expansion backplane can host a serial expansion power supply within its leftmost slot. The internal power used by this GE Fanuc serial expansion backplane, or also known as the maximum load requirement, is rated as one hundred and seventy (170) milliamperes at five (5) volts direct current (DC). Additionally, the maximum load requirement includes a power rating of 0.75 watts at five (5) volts direct current (DC). This serial expansion backplane has physical dimensions that measure 245 millimeters x 130 millimeters x 142 millimeters, or 10.43 inches x 5.12 inches x 5.59 inches (width x height x depth). This serial expansion backplane does not support module hot installation or module hot removal. This GE Fanuc serial expansion backplane supports high speed serial only backplanes.
