Item number IC693BEM321 is a link master module, manufactured by Emerson - GE Fanuc. It is part of the Series 90-30 I/O series, and it is used in application with Series 90-30 PLCs to act as master in a I/O LINK system. The IC693BEM321 module is equipped with serial interface, providing high-speed I/O data transfer between the master and up to sixteen (16) slaves. The most common slaves found are GE Fanuc equipment like CNCs type Mate / Series 0, Series 90-70 / 90-30 PLCs, connection units, and operator panels. The master is capable of accepting 1024 discrete inputs from slaves and sending 1024 discrete outputs.

There is no limitation on the amount of master modules that can be installed in a Series 90-30 PLC. In case there are multiple master modules in the same PLC, they should be on separate I/O LINK systems. When installed in CPU baseplate, the maximum acceptable number of I/O LINK modules is 6. When it comes to restarting this module, there is a pushbutton available. The module has 3 LED status indicators, which include the Module OK (OK), Module Configured (CFG) and Link Active (ACTV). This device possesses one (1) 20-pin type Honda connector, in which its signal is compatible with RS-422 and RS-485. The maximum length between the master and the first slave or between two slaves is 10 meters (33 feet) in case electrical cable is used and 100 meters (330 feet) when / if an optical cable is used. If a transition from electrical to optical cable or vise-versa is needed, the unit must use an additional optical adapter.
