The GE Fanuc Emerson IC693BEM340 is a FIP bus controller device that offers the possibility to interface a Series 90-30 I/O network to a PLC. This device can be easily inserted on a universal backplane and occupies only a single slot. The IC693BEM340 can monitor I/O devices, store remote modules, configure data, and report faults. This FIP unit is compatible with all most Series 90-30 I/O devices and provides full control of the I/O operations in the appropriate mode. The IC693BEM340 scans and checks both analog and discrete I/O modules, maintains I/O scan timing, and maps I/O data information to application variables of the FIP. The device has two FIP ports and an RS-485 serial port.
The IC693BEM340 contains two 9-pin FIP connectors and a 15-pin serial RS-485 connector. The unit can communicate with a data rate of 1 megahertz and store the network configuration in the case of a loss of power. This FIP module can be programmed using either a computer or the hand-held programmer through the serial port. The IC693BEM340 includes six LED indicators on the faceplate to show the current status of channels. The module supports a vibration frequency range from 10 hertz to 2 kilohertz. The device can operate with a non-condensing humidity range from 5 percent to 95 percent and a vibration frequency range from 10 hertz to 500 hertz. This module draws a current of 800 milliamperes at a voltage of +5 volts DC. The module weighs approximately 270 grams (0.59 pounds) while shipping.
