The IC693CMM302 is an enhanced communications module developed by GE Fanuc. The module is commonly known as the GCM+. The unit enables automatic global data communication between 90-30 Series PLCs and up to 31 other Genius devices. The connection is established through a Genius Bus. It is possible for the IC693CMM302 module to be installed on several different baseplates including remote and expansion baseplates. To achieve the most efficient performance of the IC693CMM302, install the module in the CPU baseplate. This is because the sweep impact time of the IC693CMM302 module depends on the model of the PLC and also varies according to the baseplate where it is located.

It is important to note that if this GCM module is already present in the system, implementing a GCM+ module will not be possible. Multiple GCM+ modules can be added to a single 90-30 Series Programmable Logic Control system. Each of the GCM+ modules connected need to have its Genius bus. This will allow a 90-30 Series PLC (with three GCM+ modules) to exchange global data with as many as 93 other Genius devices connected through Genius busses. Additionally, the IC693CMM302 GCM+ module can be used for peer-to-peer communication between devices on the bus and data monitoring of industrial computers and PCs. The module can also be used for master-slave communication between bus devices and data monitoring from Genius I/O blocks. The IC693CMM302 GCM+ module includes LEDs for showing the operating status. These LEDs are switched on when everything operates normally. The LED marked with COM will intermittently blink when there is an error in bus connections. In case the Genius bus fails, the LED will turn off.
