The IC697CMM711 is a Communications Coprocessor Module manufactured by GE Fanuc for the 90-30 Series of modules. This Single-Slot CMM comes with a soft switch configuration to eliminate the need for jumpers and switches. It includes pushbutton reset control, two serial ports, and three (3) status LEDs. This Communications Coprocessor Module uses an 80C186 microprocessor and doesn’t include a battery. The CMM is a part of the communications modules family and it demonstrates Remote Terminal Unit (RTU), Communication control (CCM), and a general IC69 communications (SNP protocol) functionality. RTU, CMM, and SNP are available on one or both the serial ports in any of these possibilities: CCM/CCM, RTU/RTU, SNP/SNP, CCM/RTU, RTU/CCM, SNP/CCM, CCM/SNP, SNP/RTU, and RTU/SNP. The CMM module delivers the RS-485, RS-232 interfaces, and can communicate with the PLC CPU through the backplane. Various CMM can be installed in one IC697 PLCs.
Functions allowed by the IC697CMM711 module in the CCM operation includes register read/write, output and input tables, bit set/clear inputs and outputs, Q sequence commands for fast reads, scratchpad read, and diagnostic status word modification. In peer/master CCM configurations, the CMM initiates communication with the remote devices using application ladder program communication requests. The status of the IC697CMM711 module is indicated by three LEDs. Serial port activities are indicated by Port 1 LED and Port 2 LED. The power LED will start blinking when the IC697CMM711 module is powered up and once the diagnostics are effectively completed, the top LED will remain on. The top LED will always indicate the status of the LED.
