The IC200MDD842 module by GE Fanuc is a discrete mixed input/output module that belongs to the VersaMax family of products. It has the ability to provide 32 input/output points in the form of three basic groups. There are two groups of eight discrete inputs each and one group of sixteen discrete outputs, which are either positive logic outputs or sourcing type outputs. The inputs are either positive logic inputs or negative logic inputs. It should be noted that IC200MDD842B or higher version of the module is required for negative logic functionality. In this module, loads have to be powered externally and the CPU or NIU performs the intelligent processing. This model has a protection feature for short circuits and current overload. This feature saves the module and its surroundings from damage. There are LEDs present for status indication of both input and output points. There are amber LEDs that specify overload conditions at the output. This diagnostic function helps a lot in troubleshooting. Once the issue is resolved normal operation can be continued. There is another green LED that turns on when field power is applied to the module and an OK LED that is turned on when backplane power is provided. This module is used for many industrial applications in different industrial settings. The module is to be installed by carefully following all installation guidelines provided so that proper and accurate results can be achieved. The basic input on/off response time for this module is 0.5 ms.
