The 1771-QB is a linear positioning module that integrates the machine control capabilities of a programmable controller for a closed loop system. The module offers the required programmable controller system a high level of performance by hydraulics. The fast update times on the 1771-QB module is 2 milliseconds for servo loop and digital measurement updates. This gives the module the ability to respond promptly to position command and load upsets. The resolution over a 60-inch span is within one thousandth of an inch and is repeatable to 2 thousandth of an inch for a 180-inch span. The control parameters such as proportional, integral, derivative, acceleration, velocity, and feed-forward offer the user needed versatility for smoother and customized profiles. The 1771-QB module connects to the TemposonicsTM II Linear Displacement transducer, a Balluff BTL transducer, and Norstat GYRG transducer. The linear positioning module is capable of controlling rate of change of acceleration and deceleration with velocity smoothing in order to minimize jerk and avoid wear & tear of equipment. The unit integrates the machine controller with a stand alone hydraulic servo controller without any need for external programming to change parameters. It can connect directly to hydraulic servo valves that operate at ±100 milliamperes and servo motors operating at ±10 Volts DC without any installation. The module has a simulation mode for PLC programming development and testing without the actual hardware. The down time is lowered by using the built-in diagnostics that can detect transducer failure (loss of feedback) or positioning error and communicate with the operator.
